Lyrics
Midnight Show
A midnight show, alone I go
But what I find in the song and the rhyme
Is a lyric I already know
Shuffle off slow, nowhere to go
Searching for kind in the wrong
Niche in time, a mere trick
That I learned long ago
But how do you grow, when out of the
Flow, I’ve fallen behind feel the long hear
The chime so etheric but vaguely hollow
Too many sighs for broken ties
Seemed such a basic remark for a pawn
To present, but most showed surprise
Over the rise, heavenly eyes, better come
Quick ‘cause the dark before dawn is the
Moment I lose this disguise
A crack in the skies, the shadow flies
But fog is too thick to embark so I
Yawn and relent to my daily reprise
Took my goods to wade the lanes
Stood and looked in vain for shade
Could have booked the train but stayed
Shook my hood and prayed for rain
Now just outside a course to stride
I know that I’ve played right along now
I grant that it’s late and it’s time to decide
A one way ride, gone with the tide
It seems that I’ve stayed for so long that
I can’t even wait for the storm to subside
Someone replied, might as well glide
Hey there I’ll trade you a song and a
Chant for a fate or an elegant guide
Shaved the grey and rolled the bones
Engraved for days the stones I sold
Laid in caves where shown and told
Waved away not old just grown
